The premium, new Lexus LX flagship SUV is now available to order from showrooms across South Africa and will boast an ultra luxury VIP Grade and sport orientated LX F for the first time in the range history.
The flagship Japanese SUV range boasts two powertains, four model grades and three-seating layouts to choose from with a statement confirming that “Lexus aims to give its customers the luxury of choice, and the all-new LX range does just that.”
Starting with the powertrains, the behemoth model is equipped with a V6 and fuelled by either petrol or diesel, both of which propel the wheels via a four-wheel drive system and new Direct Shift 10-speed automatic transmission that delivers smooth acceleration. The more powerful petrol motor churns out 305 kW and 650 N.m from its 3,5-litre twin-turbocharged mill while the torque focused diesel manages 225 kW and 700 N.m from a 3,3-litre twin-turbo-diesel. Both are considerable improvements from their predecessors.
Top speed is limited to 210 kmh while fuel consumption is stated at 8,3 L/100 km for the diesel with 11,3 L/100 claimed for its counterpart. Aside from its power to lug the weight of the body and occupants along, the powertrain innovation is stated to reduce CO2 by around 20%
Consumers have the choice of varying grades and seating layouts which include the LX 500d, LX 500d F Sport, LX 600 seven-seater, LX 600 F Sport and LX 600 VIP. For the first time in the segment, the new Lexus LX will boast a four-seat configuration in VIP Grade which is finished in with semi-aniline leather upholstery. All other models come equipped with five seats except for the LX 600 which has a third row and two more seats.
The LX F Sport Grade can be had in either petrol or diesel configuration and is equipped with a heated steering wheel, centre console-mounted cool box, a digital rear-view mirror, soft-close doors and Lexus-debut fingerprint identification for the engine start button. The exterior is differentiated with a prominent jet-black grille with a mess pattern, front spoiler and 22-inch forged alloy wheels lining all four corners – the largest ever on an LX. It will also boast an exclusive White Nova exterior colour and exclusive Black & Flare Red interior finishes.
Non LX F Sport models can be chosen in any one of six exterior colours including Sonic Quartz, Sonic Titanium, Terrane Khaki, Raven Black, Manganese Lustre (new) and Graphite Black (new).
