Chery sub-brand Omoda & Jaecoo has achieved over 30 000 new-vehicle sales in South Africa since its introduction to our market in 2023.

September 2026 was a significant month for Omoda & Jaecoo South Africa, with the Chery sub-brand achieving 31 990 new vehicles sold in total since its introduction to the country in 2023. The local arm of the Chinese automaker recorded its strongest sales month yet in the ninth month of the year, as 1 503 new Omoda & Jaecoo vehicles found homes.
In the third quarter, Omoda & Jaecoo delivered 4 310 vehicles, a 24.4% year-on-year increase over the 3 464 units sold during the same period in 2025. The firm’s first full year of sales (2024) had 1 392 customers putting pen to paper for Omoda & Jaecoo products in the third quarter of that year.
Omoda & Jaecoo highlighted that, of its total cumulative sales since launch, the Omoda C5 – the first vehicle introduced by the brand in South Africa – has proven to be its most popular model. The C5 has accounted for 21 293, or two-thirds, of total sales. In September, the C5 and Jaecoo J5, including the recently launched J5 SHS and J5 BEV, once again placed among the top 10 best-selling Chinese passenger cars in South Africa. The C5 and J5 recorded 936 and 410 units sold, respectively. In addition, new-energy vehicles (NEVs) accounted for 21% of the brand’s sales. The first nine months of 2026 saw 2 081 NEVs delivered to customers.
Said Shannon Gahagan, Head of Brand and Marketing for Omoda & Jaecoo and iCAUR South Africa, “What stands out for us is the consistency of the growth we’re seeing. To have increased our third-quarter sales for three consecutive years, while also passing 30 000 cumulative sales in South Africa, shows that we are continuing to build real momentum in the market.”
