Koenigsegg supercars are both rare and expensive, not to mention extremely fast, which is why despite being heartbreaking, this shouldn’t be much of a surprise. The sheer magnitude of the crash, however is terrifying as you can see from the images above.
The crash took place earlier this past week as the unnamed driver and passenger were driving in Mexico, towards Monterrey. According to a witness at the scene, the driver lost control (at a high speed) of the CCX and hit a curb before partaking in a series of rolls.
It looks as if pieces of the carbon fibre supercar were completely torn off from the impact but it is possible that some of the panels were sawed off in order to safely remove the occupants.
Despite having happened several days ago there is still no news on their current condition, although it is rumoured that one of them has passed away. Judging by the images, that wouldn’t be hard to believe.
This was the Koenigsegg CCX ‘Custom Vision’ which was not only a one-off model but also the only Koenigsegg in the Mexican region. It was valued at R19,5 million according to the price-tag attached to it at a recent exotic car dealership.
Although the car looks as if it is a complete loss, Koenigsegg might be able to completely rebuild it but the presumed cost of this might not be worthwhile.
The car was un-insured and only had 1 721 miles (2 770 km) on the clock.
