There is one thing South African drivers need. More patience, yes, but something else. Something that will minimise accidents and deaths on our roads. And Samsung may have a very innovative solution.
Samsung is exploring technologies that will make it easier for drivers to see through the truck and to know when it is safe to pass.
Still confused? Let’s break it down:
Samsung placed cameras on the front of one of their semi-trailer trucks and a live feed is channelled to the rear of the truck. Each of the front-facing cameras are mounted on the grill of the truck and a gigantic four-screen display at the rear displays what is happening up front.
This new innovation is being tested in Argentina where, according to some scary statistics, one person dies every hour due to a traffic accident, with many deaths caused through reckless driving.
“So far Samsung has been able to confirm that the technology works and that this idea can definitely save the lives of many people,” a Samsung statement reads.
Here’s to hoping that this revolutionary idea will make it to our roads, as well.
