The Tesla Berlin Gigafactory is the first Tesla manufacturing facility in Europe and is claimed to be more advanced, sustainable and efficient than any other out there. Take a tour through the factory as an FPV drone pilot navigates through the tight spaces.
The Tesla Berlin Gigafactory in Brandenburg Germany opened its doors for production in March of 2022. The newly established facility has already fallen prey to a Tesla sanctioned FPV drone pilot testing his skills inside and outside the impressive location.
The footage starts from the building carpark where finished models are on a shakedown lap. The compact but high speed drone then moves into the facility through a well choreographed sequence of events where incredible technology and automation is displayed with every few seconds that pass. The factory which cost Elon Musk a cool €5 billion is the largest investment in a German car plant in history and is expected to hire 12,000 workers once operating at full capacity.
While those limited workers get to work with the state-of-the art machinery on a daily basis, the footage enables viewers the rare opportunity to see the inside of the facility where automated assembly reigns supreme. It continues through the whole production of a Tesla with the sheet metal being stamped out and slowly morphing into a recognisable Model Y.
The footage also displays the welding line, paint booths and final inspection zones all portrayed through some brave and ingenuitive cinematography which includes flying through the bare shell of the unfinished Tesla. The video finishes off with an aerial view of the Gigafactory, which puts context to the sheer size of the location.
Once at full operational potential, the Tesla Berlin Gigafactory will produce half a million cars and 50GWh of battery capacity at the location.
