A common question that often gets askedĀ is “which manufacturer makes the best cars?”. Well, after a conclusive survey conducted by Consumer Reports, the brand that makes the best vehicles for drivers is one that has shown consistency in its products and for the second year in a row Audi has claimed this title with an overall score of 81 points.
Audi is followed closely by Porsche (78), BMW (77) and then Lexus (77 bust a lower road-test score of 74). The scores were accumulated by Consumer Reports, who collected the road tests of all major automotive publications in the US. Brands who had only one model tested by the press were omitted from this list.
These scores were then combined with the brands’ predicted reliability, safety and customer satisfaction to formulate the overall score. Companies such as Porsche, Tesla and Chrysler saw an increase in position due to new models being released over the past year and an improved reliability.
On the flip-side, brands such as Mini, Subaru and Volkswagen saw a decline due to reliability issues and certain models which generated high road test results currently showing their age; particularly the Subaru Legacy and Outback, which caused the Japanese brand to drop three places.
