Passenger car sales trends beyond October 2026
South Africa’s new passenger-car sales trend points towards sustained resilience and moderate year-on-year growth for November and December 2026, building on the positive momentum established over preceding months. Analysts anticipate that dealerships will maintain promotional campaigns and year-end stock clearance deals to attract budget-conscious buyers, even as cost-of-living pressures continue to constrain household finances. Fleet replacements and solid demand from the car rental sector are expected to provide an additional safety net for overall passenger volumes heading into the holiday season.

Several recent and incoming models could sway final sales results by drawing heavy showroom traffic during this crucial trading period. Fresh additions like the Haval H7, Changan Deepal S05 REEV, Hyundai Creta N Line, and various competitively priced compact crossovers from expanding Chinese and Asian brands are capturing high levels of consumer interest. At the same time, perennial volume drivers like updated hatchback ranges and high-selling crossovers from legacy carmakers such as Volkswagen, Suzuki, and Toyota will heavily influence which manufacturers finish the year atop the sales charts.
