In the December issue of CAR Magazine, we anticipated that the Volkswagen Group would have a busy year ahead, as they normally do with their broad offerings in the local market. With Volkswagen, we knew that the Tayron was confirmed alongside a new Transporter Kombi, both expected by Q3. Additionally and continuing a long lineage in South Africa, the German automaker has confirmed what we anticipated; the updated Golf 8.5 in 1.4 TSI guise will be coming in Q1, which could serve as an entrée to 8.5 GTI. The Indaba also mentioned the launch of the Amarok Life 4×2 Auto and Crafter 50 in the same period while Q2 will see the arrival of the ID.Buzz and the new Transporter. Not shown during the presentation but revealed during the conference was the Polo Vivo Edition 15. The number suffix denotes that it has been 15 years since the Vivo name first appeared in South Africa and boasts some cosmetic details, which will be limited to 1 500 units.

Moving into the more premium sphere, sister company Audi will be taking most of the spotlight in Q1 with the arrival of the SQ7 and SQ8 which was already confirmed in the December issue of CAR Magazine, as was the RS Q8 and updated A3. Its barnstorming flagship counterpart; the RS 3 will only arrive in Q2, touted to come just ahead of the Q6 e-tron. Finally, the same period will hopefully welcome the all-new Audi A5.
We speculated that the RS Q8 Performance will also make it to the country, however the automaker has not confirmed this for its 12 month road map, nor did they allude to the RS e-tron GT Performance joining the frey.
