Jaguar South Africa has expanded its supercharged V8 offering for its halo sportscar, the F-Type. Badged as the P450, it will sit alongside the current 423 kW P575 (the same engine with a different state of tune) as an entry-level point for the eight-cylinder driven derivatives.
The P450, as the name suggests, delivers 331 kW and 580 N.m of torque. It can be had as a coupe or convertible with rear- or all-wheel drive. All models make use of the eight-speed automatic transmission and both powertrains feature an electronic active rear differential and claim a 0-100km/h time of 4,6 seconds with a top speed of 285 km/h.
To celebrate the arrival, a special P450 R-Dynamic Black model will be available from launch. This exclusive addition to the line-up will offer an enhanced specification and a more luxurious crafted interior.
The Black Pack and 20-inch five split-spoke wheels with gloss black finish, known as ‘Style 5039’, are not available on any other model in the range. Complementing these trims is a choice of three metallic paints; Santorini Black, Eiger Grey or Firenze Red.
The cabin of the F-Type boasts slimline performance seats with 12-way electronic adjustments upholstered in Windsor leather with a choice of Ebony with Light Oyster contrast stitching or Mars with Flame Red stitching.
The new engine derivative is expected to launch in SA in the second half of this year. Pricing will be confirmed closer to the time.
