Kia Motors South Africa has voluntarily recalled approximately 798 Kia Soul vehicles starting today. Kia want to inspect the steering rack to confirm that the pinion nut is correctly secured.
The vehicles that are affected were assembled in Lorea between 18 January 2014 and 30 September 2015. If there is an issue with the pinion, some drivers may experience a knocking sound when turning the wheel.
The owners will be telephonically notified by Kia Motors South Africa call centre as of today, the 1st of March. It should take less than an hour for Kia dealer to perform the inspection and the repair depending on your vehicle’s position in the work queue on the day of the booking.
If you have any questions or need more information you can go to the Kia website which will feature a menu option allowing Soul owners to enter their vehicle’s VIN number in to the search functionality. The VIN number is listed on the vehicle’s license disc and embedded on the windscreen on the lower left side. This is helpful for customers who are not the original owners of the vehicle.
Additionally, queries can also be lodged with the KIA Motors South Africa Call Centre on 010 596 2000.
