Lamborghini planning a four-door GT for 2025

By: CAR magazine

In 2008, Lamborghini revealed its Estoque concept; a four-door 2+2 GT that would have competed with the likes of the Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera. Unfortunately, a production model didn’t see the light of day but now it seems the project may have been revived – albeit, this time with a different vision.

While it’ll still employ the 2+2 layout, the car is rumoured to be fully electric and will hit the market by 2025, Autocar reports. This will pitch it perfectly against the Porsche Taycan.

Commenting on the planned product, Lamborghini R&D boss Maurizio Reggiani stated, “if you look at the timing for a fourth model line, there is the potential that this will be the right time for a full-electric vehicle.”

He also confirmed such a car could use the VAG group’s PPE platform (currently used on the Porsche Taycan and upcoming Audi E-tron GT).

With regards to combining performance and range, Reggiani says “performance will be important [in a 2+2]. We must be fast but not quite in the same way as we need to be in our super-sports cars. A fourth model line will be something a little bit different.”
