The Macan is as small as Porsche will go with its crossovers, says an executive.
If you were hoping to have the option of buying a Porsche-badged crossover that is smaller and cheaper than the entry-level Macan, keep hoping.
Detlev von Platen, global sales chief for Porsche, says the brand has no plans to “go below” the current crossover line-up.
“There is absolutely no intention to go below what we have today,” Von Platen said, according to Automotive News.
The comments come after renewed speculation that Porsche is developing a new mini-crossover to slot in below the popular Cayenne and Audi Q5-based Macan.
“We are an exclusive sports car manufacturer. We have nothing to gain by creating a cheaper Porsche in the future. It’s not about quantity; it’s about quality in what we do,” he added.
