The tuning wizzes at Manhart Performance have done it again with their latest creation, the MH8 700 – essentially a BMW 8 Series Convertible with the wick turned up to 11. Think about a droptop with 522 kW and 925 Nm. Another product of what Manhart refer to as their “refinement program” the MH8 700 uses BMW’s G14 M850i Convertible as its basis.
At the core of their “refinement” of BMW’s flagship convertible is an extensive reworking for the N63B44T3 4,4-litre twin-turbocharged V8. The upgrade comes as a result of both software and hardware upgrades. ECU remapping and upgraded turbochargers, as well as a new intercooler and high-flow air filters allow for a significant power and torque upgrade from the standard vehicle’s 390 kW and 750 Nm. The cherry on top here is the Manhart stainless steel exhaust system with valve control which adds sufficient aural stimulation, as well as four striking carbon-tipped tailpipes at the rear.
Decatted race downpipes are optionally available for improved response and even louder turbo spool sounds. The tried and tested ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox receives a software upgrade, however the braking system remains unchanged, testament to just how good the standard vehicle’s braking system is.
Manhart’s standard black paintwork with gold detailing applies here, and front and rear carbon-fibre spoilers and splitters, as well as a new diffuser set the MH8 700 apart from unmodified brethren.
20-inch Manhart Concave One rims sit in each corner, shod with high-performance tyres. Manahrt H&R lowering springs lower the nearly 5-metre long convertible by 30 mm and to round all of the above off, small but effective interior details and accents made of carbon fibre remind one that you’re sitting in something special.
