Mercedes-Benz has revealed its refreshed Mercedes-AMG GT family at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, while also adding the new limited edition GT R Pro variant to the range.

We’ll start with the new Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro, which features the same 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 as the GT R, churning out the same peak outputs of 430 kW and 700 N.m (and hitting 100 km/h from standstill in 3,6 seconds before topping out at 318 km/h).

But, while power is unchanged, the GT R Pro does gain new suspension, aerodynamic fine-tuning (resulting in more downforce), lightweight bucket seats and lightweight wheels.

The new coil-over suspension offers more choices for tailoring the set-up, with the driver able to set the spring preload length mechanically and also adjust the compression and rebound of the dampers. The front axle, meanwhile, is fitted with an adjustable torsion bar made of carbon-fibre.

Other measures include the addition of a carbon-fibre shear panel in the underbody of the rear end, and the retuning of the electronically controlled dynamic engine and transmission mounts. A “track package”, meanwhile, add a roll-over protection system, enclosed four-point safety harnesses and a fire extinguisher.

The AMG GT R Pro is fitted as standard with a ceramic high-performance compound braking system and five-double-spoke forged wheels. The redesigned front apron gains two flics at the sides (fashioned from clear-coated carbon-fibre), while Mercedes-AMG says the louvres in the front wings vent the wheel arches and contribute to reducing front-axle lift.

At the rear, a clear-coated carbon-fibre aero element at the wheel arch on either side rises up almost to the level of the taillamps, while the rear wing is fitted with a spoiler lip to increase downforce.

So, what about the rest of the range? Well, the in addition to various exterior updates, the two-door AMG GT coupés and roadsters will be fitted with the Affalterbach-based firm’s integrated driving dynamics control system, a new steering wheel, the centre console from the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé and a fully digital instrument display.

Those exterior tweaks include new light clusters (front and rear), a redesigned rear apron and refreshed tailpipe covers, along with a choice of new alloy wheel designs.

A fresh parking package will furthermore be available, as will the “brilliant blue magno” hue first introduced with the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé and two-tone leather upholstery.
