The Mitsubishi Pajero Legend 100 has been revealed as a South African-specific special edition that will be limited to just 100 units. The release of this unique variant has been introduced as a farewell to this generation of Pajero and will be the last 100 available in the country.
The special model is available in short-wheel base guise, with a price tag of R779 995, and long-wheel base, which will cost R869 995. With this, a three-year/100 000 km warranty and five-year/100 000 km maintenance plan is included.
So what do you get in the Mitsubishi Pajero Legend 100? For starters, each owner receives a certificate of membership to the exclusive “Legend 100 Club” as well as a unique badging. Powering the SUV is the turbodiesel 3,2-litre four-cylinder engine which delivers 140 kW and 441 N.m of torque to a 4×4 system via a five-speed automatic transmission.
Standard trim remains unchanged with the cabin hosting an 860-Watt high power amp that manages a 12-speaker system. A touchscreen infotainment system and fully automatic air-conditioning with rear controls are included as well for added comfort levels.
From the exterior, a chrome radiator grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, side steps, a bold bumper, integrated fog lamps and LED DRLs are included to create a distinctive look. Safety standards are also jacked up with the inclusion of six airbags, ISOFix anchor points, side impact protection bars, active stability and traction control, brake assist system and rear park distance control with a camera.
Once all Mitsubishi Pajero Legend 100 units have been sold, the Pajero Sport Exceed II will take over as the Japanese brand’s flagship 4×4. This uses a smaller 2,4-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel mill which pushes 133 kW and 430 N.m of torque via an eight-speed Aisin torque converter.
Although a number of rumours have surfaced, it is not yet confirmed if the Pajero will see another generation after this.
