Well that didn’t take long. Barely a month after Toyota pulled the covers off its all-new Land Cruiser 300, Japanese custom parts specialist Modellista has unveiled a range of stylistic enhancements for the large SUV.
The mods start with a completely redesigned lower front bumper that boasts an integrated spoiler and L-shaped fins to match the headlight DRLs. You’ll also see a new bumper design at the back of the vehicle, featuring a large black diffuser element with mesh trim. Side skirts round off the styling enhancements along with 21-inch alloy wheels, which are available in Matte Black as well as a diamond cut finish with partial Gloss Black colouring.
“In terms of design, I wanted to make a major change to create a playful and dynamic feel,” said project manager Yoichi Tanahashi. “To allow for a bolder design, we have replaced the whole bumper instead of covering it with a spoiler like we did before.”
As previously reported, the new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 range is set to be launched in South Africa at the beginning of August. Built around a new platform called GA-F, which is related to the TNGA modular architecture, the new LC 300 retains the tough ladder frame construction that has always been a hallmark of its predecessors, but sheds a bit of weight to help achieve Toyota’s target of 10 percent lower CO2 emissions.
The Land Cruiser 300 also ushers in an all-new 3,3-litre V6 twin-turbo diesel engine, which produces 227 kW and 700 N.m. It’s joined by a Lexus-derived 3,5-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine that’s rated at 305 kW and 650 N.m. Both engines are paired with a new 10-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota says it will also offer a normally aspirated V6 petrol in some markets, and this will be paired with a six-speed automatic.
