Updated Polestar optimisation software has been released for the Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid SUV, making it the most powerful Volvo model to date.
According to Volvo, this increases the combined output of the hybrid system to 311 kW and 680 N.m, up by 11 kW and 40 N.m respectively. All of this extra oomph comes from the petrol engine, as the electric motor’s output remains unchanged.
Volvo now claims a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5,5 seconds (for reference, we tested the standard SUV at 5,66 seconds in our June 2016 issue). This software also updates the throttle response and gearshift hold action (during cornering).
The SUV’s claimed fuel consumption is unchanged at 2,1 litres per 100 km and the maximum electric range remains at 43 km.
This software is now available at all Volvo Cars dealers in South Africa, and has no effect on service intervals or your T8’s warranty.
