Not too long ago, Hot Wheels created a to-scale, Darth Vader-inspired coupe based on the Chevrolet Corvette (and now owned by Jay Leno).
Now the America-based toy manufacturer has returned to the Star Wars franchise to recreate one of its most iconic ships. This is the X-Wing Fighter Carship created as a celebratory model for Comic-Con this year.
The Carship project is a Star Wars partnership with Hot Wheels aimed at recreating all of the iconic ships from the movies by transforming them into cars for the real world. Obviously, this is just a form of promotion for the miniature collection set to go on sale soon.
The X-Wing is said to use a 2,0-litre Ford engine and, according to Autocar‘s guesses, a Formula Ford open-wheel chassis. Hot Wheels also claims that its recreation of the design can generate up to 430 kg of downforce at 265 km/h. The body is composed of sheet metal while the weapons make use of genuine aircraft parts.
