Chevrolet is taking SEMA on in full swing this year, with it revealing an array of wild concepts. These two Silverado models, named the High Desert and Alaskan Concept, are no exception to the theme.
High Desert
This is based on the double-cab bakkie with the High Desert trim, which makes use of a lockable and water-resistant cargo system and a Magnetic Ride Control suspension. This particular model, however adds a few odds and ends to help it stand out.
The revisions are minor, but they all add up to create something somewhat unique to the Silverado range. The first thing to notice about the exterior is the set of bronze 22-inch wheels which provides a contrasting finish to the Slate Blue paint.
The interior gains a set of cocoa leather seats with brown stitching and all-weather floor mats.
Powering the High Desert will be a 6,2-litre V8. Thanks to the performance exhaust, power has been bumped up by 5 kW meaning the overall power output comes in at 318 kW, all of which is delivered to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Alaskan Concept
This is where things get interesting. The Alaskan Concept makes use of the Silverado 2500 HD which means it is powered by a turbodiesel 6,6-litre Duramax engine pushing out 332 kW and 1 234 N.m of torque; perfect for plowing snow.
The custom snowplow is made of stainless steel and is built for forging paths through heavy sheets of ice. To accentuate this, the Silverado has been painted in blue and detailed with grizzly bear graphics. The bumpers, grill and emblems have also been chromed.
We wonder these editions might find their way into the Chevy Utility…
