The new Honda E Prototype has been revealed ahead of its official debut at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2019, previewing a new retro-styled urban electric vehicle set to go into production later in the year.
The unveiling of this near-production prototype follows the Japanese brand’s debut of the Urban EV Concept back in 2017.
Honda promises the new rear-wheel-drive vehicle will feature “engaging driving dynamics” and deliver a package “perfect for the urban environment”.
The prototype boasts flush “pop-out” door handles and compact cameras replacing traditional side mirrors, while the charging port is integrated centrally in the bonnet.
The vehicle runs on Honda’s new EV-specific platform, which the firm says allows for a “spacious” cabin despite compact proportions. As we saw in an earlier teaser, the prototype features a customisable multi-screen horizontal display dominating its refreshingly uncluttered facia.
Honda claims the E Prototype will deliver a range of “over 200 km”, with an 80 percent charge from empty taking a some 30 minutes when using a fast charger.
