Not a fan of the W12? Well, Bentley has introduced the Continental GT V8, offered in both coupé and convertible body styles.

Each is equipped with a new twin-turbocharged 4,0-litre V8 developing 405 kW and 770 N.m (compared with the stonking 6,0-litre W12’s 467 kW and 900 N.m). Top speed comes in at 318 km/h, with the coupé hitting 100 km/h from standstill in a claimed 4,0 seconds and the convertible taking just one-tenth longer.

The Crewe-based firm claims the V8 offers “greater range” than the flagship model plus a “characterful V8 burble though the stylish quad exhaust pipes”. The Continental GT V8 and GT V8 Convertible both feature 20-inch 10-spoke alloys (although optional items measuring up to 22 inches are available), “subtle” V8 badging and a handcrafted interior.

The V8 models gain front and rear hollow anti-roll bars, while Bentley’s intelligent “Dynamic Ride System” will be available as an option. The eight-cylinder derivatives are furthermore offered with a range of driver assistance features, including active lane assist, traffic jam assist and park assist.

Customer deliveries of the V8-powered models begin in the United States in the third quarter of 2019, with the rest of world following from the first quarter of 2020.
