Haval South Africa has confirmed it has plans to add the new F7 compact SUV and its coupé-style F7x sibling to the local line-up. While an exact launch date has yet to be determined, the local arm of the Chinese automaker says it is tentatively looking at the second half of 2020.

Haval says its new “F” range of SUVs is targeted at younger buyers and boasts “more diversified technical” configurations than the familiar “H” series, as well as sportier styling. The front-driven F7 measures 4 620 mm long with a wheelbase of 2 725 mm, making it a little larger than the H6 currently offered in SA.

Power for both the F7 and F7x comes from the brand’s turbocharged 2,0-litre petrol engine, here mated to a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and producing 145 kW and 345 N.m.

Haval SA also confirmed a new version of the H6 is scheduled to arrive on local shores in 2020, featuring revised styling and a redesigned interior, as well as upgrading from a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox to a seven-speeder.
