Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has announced the arrival of its new Triton Xtreme, a special version of the Japanese bakkie offered in “limited numbers”.
The newcomer is priced at R639 995, with Mitsubishi claiming the Xtreme boasts upgrades “valued at around R100 000”.
For the record, it costs some R40 000 more than the double-cab 4×4 auto on which it is based, but adds what Mitsubishi describes as an “attractive, bold and adventurous look” plus extra kit.
So, what exactly do you get for the money? Well, there’s a new black bumper and grille combination as well as a bonnet protector and headlamp covers. Other exterior additions include “Xtreme” branding, “4×4” decals, door-handle cups, roof rack supports, window visors and taillamp covers.
In addition, the Xtreme gains a black Kekosport styling bar, a “fender flare kit” with visible bolts and A-line Hazard alloy wheels finished in black and wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion All-Terrain tyres. A Bosal tow bar is also included in the price. What else? Well, the Triton Xtreme features “Ezydown” hydraulic tailgate dampers, rubberising for the loadbay and a tonneau cover.
Inside, Mitsubishi SA says it has added a “sport” gearshift knob as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. Power comes from Mitsubishi’s 2,4-litre turbodiesel engine, offering all four corners an unchanged 133 kW and 430 N.m.
