This 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 has been given a new lease on life at the hands of restomod experts, Legacy Overland.
The classic SUV receives a number of modern features and mechanical components while retaining its iconic design.
The most notable change is under the bonnet, where the Toyota engine has been swapped out for a 5,7-litre Chevrolet V8 with a 600 CFM Weber carburettor fitted with an electronic choke. This sends power to the 4×4 system via an Edelbrock 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission.
The FJ40 has also been given hydraulic power steering and an upgraded braking system, while the chassis has been upgraded by means of an Old Man Emu leaf-spring suspension overhaul with Terrain Tamer gas shocks. A set of 16-inch OEM steel wheels remain, wrapped in BF Goodrich KM3 tyres.
Cosmetic exterior upgrades consist of LED headlamps and rear utility lighting, new front bumper D-rings and a 10-litre jerry can mounted to the rear (the latter painted to match the car’s Desert Storm Tan finish).
In addition, the cabin has received a number of modern touches, including a set of black faux-leather seats with tan piping, a custom glove compartment and vinyl floor mats. Added convenience features include air conditioning, a RetroSound Long Beach front-loader with four Pioneer speakers and a USB charging port.
