We have been speculating over the latest flagship sedan from Bavaria for a few weeks but the time is now to catch a glimpse into the new future of the German brand. Join us at 14:00 today as we bear witness to the 2023 BMW i7 which will be revealed via livestream.
The i7 will be the first all electric 7 Series in the 45 years of spanned history for the range, do not despair if you are in the market for a plush and premium saloon but are still not yet ready to adopt to the electrification trend since the newcomer can also be had in petrol and diesel guise. A plug-in hybrid derivative will also be sold for those that want the best of both worlds.
Unfortunately, the old 6,6-litre V12 of the old M760i will not find its way into any of the above mentioned models but it shouldn’t mean that the top-spec yet-to-be-revealed iterations will have any less than the previous 447 kW from the unassuming 12 cylinder behemoth. The fully electric i7 could even surpass this number with its dual motors.
There is also speculation based on spy photos of camouflaged test cars that the 7 Series will be offered in only one length. This means that consumers will not have a choice of SWB and LWB as has been the case in the past.
What we do know so far, is that the 2023 BMW i7 model based on spy shots will have the same split headlight configuration akin to that of the X7 SUV flagship and a large imposing grille that can illuminate itself. Information on the interior is still uncertain but the 7 Series range should employ the same iDrive 8 system that the X7 has now made use of.
