The Omoda C7 has been officially introduced to the South African market, with the Chinese automaker announcing pricing and specs for its local midsize-SUV offering. See pricing below.
Positioned between the C5 X compact crossover/SUV, which featured in our 2025 Compact SUV Shootout, and C9 flagship, the Omoda C7 has arrived in South Africa. Significantly larger than the C5 X, the C7’s sculpted bodywork measures 4 621 mm in length and 1 872 mm in width – measurements comparable to that of the Haval H6. Standing 1 673 mm tall, the C7’s wheelbase spans 2 720 mm. The internal combustion (ICE) variants boast a claimed boot capacity of 614 litres, while the SHS (Super Hybrid System) derivative’s boot offers 537 litres of packing space. Both variants have a braked towing capacity of 1 250 kg.
Available in Luxury and Elegance levels of specification, the ICE models’ 1.6-litre turbopetrol is endowed with 145 kW and 290 N.m of torque, delivered to the front axle via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The non-electrified mill has a claimed fuel consumption of 7.5 L/100km.
The SHS plug-in hybrid (PHEV) setup, which pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged ICE with a single electric motor, produces a combined system output of 255 kW and 525 N.m. The automaker claims an electric-only driving range of up to 105 km and a combined operating range of around 1 200 km, based on its claimed fuel consumption of 5.0 L/100 km. The PHEV arrangement sends power to the front wheels via a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). The SHS configuration features an 18.4 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery pack, which Omoda says recharges from 0-80% in just 20 minutes at a 40 kW DC charger.

Priced from R539 900, the C7 1.6 TGDI includes a five-year/75 000 km service plan, a five-year/150 000 km vehicle warranty, and a 1 million km/10-year engine warranty – the latter applicable to the first owner. In addition to the service plan, the C7 SHS package ships with a 10-year/unlimited km warranty, which covers the battery pack and certain electric drive unit components, for the first owner, and a seven-year/200 000 km factory warranty.
