Peugeot has announced it has upgraded its local Landtrek portfolio with the introduction of a new 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. See pricing and specs below.
Exclusively available in double-cab body style, the 2.2D Peugeot Landtrek is positioned alongside its 1.9TD siblings — the latter powertrain also offered with the sole single-cab derivative in the lineup. The 2.2-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine produces 147 kW and 450 N.m of torque, making it 37 kW and 100 N.m more powerful than the 1.9TD unit. Peak power is available from 3 500 r/min, with the full complement of twisting force on tap from a low 1 500 r/min. The 2.2D oil-burner can be had with either a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain, both of which paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. (The 1.9TD is available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed self-shifter.) The fuel tank capacity has remained unchanged, at 80 litres. However, the 2.2D models boast an improved braked towing capacity — 3 500 kg vs the 1.9TD derivatives’ 3 000 kg.
Available in Allure 4×2 and 4Action 4×4 guise, the 2.2D-powered Landtrek ships with such items as 10-inch touchscreen infotainment, replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a four-speaker sound system. The 4Action 4×4 derivative gains an additional two tweeters for the latter setup. Dual-zone climate control is also present. The 4Action 4×4 further gains a 360-degree surround-view camera system. The Allure 4×2 and 4Action 4×4 roll on 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels, respectively.

Local pricing for the Landtrek lineup kicks off at R396 900 for the sole single-cab variant in the range. The 1.9TD double-cab derivatives are priced from R463 900 for the entry-level, Professional model to R759 900 for the 4Action flagship. The newly introduced 2.2D-powered models’ pricing matches that of their similarly specced 1.9TD siblings, with the 2.2D Allure and 2.2D 4Action priced from R666 900 and R759 900, respectively. Peugeot’s five-year/100 000 km service plan is included with all variants from Allure spec and up. A warranty spanning the same duration and distance is standard across the range.
