Set to be unveiled at Geneva this year the facelifted Alfa Romeo Giulietta will give the six-year old hatchback a new diesel engine, an exterior update and revisions to the infotainment system. Given its age this may, most likely be the final update that Alfa’s mid-sized hatch is to receive.
The Giulietta has been given some sportier detailing such as a new front bumper, a newly designed logo, brushed headlamps, bumper inserts, alloy rims and oblique tailpipes. The Giulietta Veloce models now make use of new sports bumpers with Alfa Red profiles, glossy anthracite accents on mirror caps, handles and on the grille and fog light surrounds.
The new 1,6-litre JTDm gives the Giulietta and economical 89 kW and 320 N.m of torque with a standard fit automatic transmission. 0-100 km/h times are an expected 10,2 seconds with a top speed of 195 km/h. A claimed fuel consumption of 3,8 l/100 km aids the diesel’s cause.
The revised uConnect system gives drivers of the Giulietta access to apps such as Deezer and TuneIn, TomTom LIVE, Facebook and Twitter so that they can constantly stay connected while driving which sounds like a rather bad idea… All of this will be displayed on a standard 5- or optional 6,5-inch touchscreen display.
More word on the Alfa’s local availability and pricing when it is announced.
