The recently revealed BMW X3 and X4 facelift have already been given a custom treatment as seen in the new Alpina XD3 and XD4 duo. The refinement package brings a sportier design, sharper handling and more power to the Bavarian crossover siblings. It’s essentially an update to the BMW X3 xDrive30d package that was revealed in 2018.
With both the Alpina XD3 and XD4 making use of BMW’s turbodiesel 3,0-litre straight-six, the aftermarket firm has increased the power output from 265 kW and 500 N.m to 290 kW and 800 N.m of torque by means of an uprated set of quad-turbochargers. With these revisions, the pair will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4,6 seconds and reach a top speed of 268 km/h.
Joining this increase in power are refinements to the suspension of the Alpina XD3 and XD4. The model update includes a revised steering calibration which is now more sensitive and precise and offers an intuitive response in every driving.
As well as the standard rear limited slip differential, the Alpina XD3 and XD4 models now come with a performance control system that prevents understeering through selective brake interventions at each individual wheel. With this, agility and lateral grip is increased and the full dynamic capabilities of the SUVs is maximised during cornering at speeds.
Compared to the standard cars, the XD3 and XD4 have a more commanding presence. The new light and kidney grille design and the re-engineered aerodynamic components at the front and rear aim to lend the models a distinctly more contemporary and sportive design language.
The firm’s in-house saddlery provides an almost unlimited range of interior features for the XD3 and XD4. This includes piping, stitching, embroidery, punching and embossing, made to customer specifications, add a personal touch to each product sourced from Alpina.
