It rather a long name but that’s because the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S Spitfire 80 has been created to pay homage to the legendary WWII fighter plane built 80 years ago.
Eight examples of this special Aston – commissioned by Aston Martin Cambridge – will be built and each costs a whole lot more than the standard V12 Vantage.
This model is basically a visual homage to the plane that defended Britain during the war. It makes use of Duxford Green paintwork, with yellow accents outlining the grille, flanks, rear wing and on the brakes to reference the pinstripes along the plane’s wings. Interestingly, the Aircraft Restoration Company was called upon to produce certain trim elements, including the tailpipe finishers.
The interior makes use of brown leather upholstery with splashes of carbon-fibre and Alcantara, along with Spitfire embroidery on the headrests.
The Vantage S Spitfire doesn’t benefit from any performance upgrades, and thus employs the same 421 kW 5,9-litre V12 engine as the standard model, making it good for a 0-100 km/h time of 3,9 seconds.
We have to ask, though, whether its worth the price of R3 500 000 (R750 000 more than the standard Vantage)?
