In the middle of last year, Audi revealed the sleek A6 E-Tron which is intended to begin filling order books for their electrified future. Some diversity has now been added to the range with the reveal of the A6 Avant E-Tron station wagon.
Josef Schlossmacher, head of communications for product and technology at Audi adds that the production version of the long-roof model can be expected by 2024 and the brand further adds that what will enter showroom floors will look similar to the provided renderings here.
Unfortunately, only exterior images have been provided so it is anyone’s guess as to what the interior will be festooned with but it can expectedly share many similarities with its standard A6 E-Tron counterpart which is set to go into production this year. Both models share the same exterior dimensions which come in at 4.96 metres long and 1.96 metres wide as well as a 1.44 metre height. The more sleek Avant has an improved drag coefficient of 0.24 which is 0.02 greater than the Sportback.
The wagon makes use of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) which will also be shared in the Q6 E-Tron crossover. Powering the A6 Avant E-Tron is an electric motor on each axle with a total output of 350 kW and 800 N.m of torque. Performance figures depend on the powertrain but high performance models are stated to achieve 100 km/h in less than four seconds while a standard A6 Avant E-Tron should do so in around seven seconds.
Audi hasn’t disclosed the battery capacity but indicates it is around 100 kilowatt-hours which should give a rear-drive version of the electric A6 Avant E-Tron around 700 kilometres of range on a single charge which should be enough to mitigate range anxiety for anti-EV adopters.
