The third-generation Q5 is offered with three turbocharged engine options: a 150 kW/340 N.m 2.0-litre petrol, a 150 kW/400 N.m four-cylinder oil-burner, and, in the SQ5, an uprated version of the 3.0-litre V6 petrol unit. The latter now produces 270 kW (up 10 kW) and 550 N.m (up 50 N.m). All models are equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. As standard, the 2.0 TFSI is front-wheel drive, with quattro available as an option, while the 2.0 TDI and SQ5 exclusively employ AWD drivetrains.

The new Q5 features Matrix LED headlamps with customisable light signatures. At the rear, a three-dimensional-shaped light strip spans the tailgate. The OLED rear lamps incorporate Car-to-X tech to communicate with the Q5’s immediate surroundings and warn other road users of traffic situations, such as accidents. A staple of the brand, dynamic indicators are also present.
The human-centric cabin features two screens, which, housed within an expansive panel, measures 11.9 and 14.5 inches for the digital instrument binnacle and touchscreen infotainment, respectively. A 10.9-inch unit for the front passenger is available as an option. Interactive contour lighting can be found in the cabin.
