Audi South Africa has launched a handful of special-edition models for its A3, Q2 and Q5 ranges, while also handing the A5 and Q2 line-up added standard equipment.
The A3 range gains two new special new derivatives. The first is the A3 Comfort Edition, which is offered exclusively in 30 TFSI (the 1,0-litre engine) guise and includes a fresh design for the 17-inch alloys, partial leather upholstery, LED headlamps, parking sensors (front and rear), black headlining and a storage package for the interior. In Sportback form, it’ll cost you R458 720, while the Sedan version is R468 720.
Then there’s the A3 Black Edition, which gains high-gloss black trim (for the grille, front bumpers, rear diffuser, window elements and side-mirror caps), 18-inch alloy wheels, the S line body kit, black headlining, partial leather upholstery, LED headlamps and a storage package. Audi SA says customers “enjoy a 35 percent cost-saving benefit on the package” compared to specifying the above equipment on the standard 35 TFSI (R501 721 for the Sportback and R511 721 for the Sedan) and 40 TFSI (R521 721 for the Sportback and R531 221 for the Sedan) models.
The entire Q2 line-up, meanwhile, gains new standard equipment, including LED headlamps, rear parking sensors, automatic air-conditioning and an uprated sound system.
A base version of the Q2 35 TFSI derivative (using the 110 kW 1,4-litre engine and priced at R499 000) has also been added to the range, along with a Black Edition, offered in 30 TFSI Sport (for R510 569) and 35 TFSI Sport (for R557 569) forms.
The Black Edition gains black 19-inch “Rotor” alloys, the high-gloss black styling package, Audi drive select and black headlining. The local arm of the Ingolstadt-based firm says buyers of these special-edition models will benefit from a 50 percent cost saving compared to specifying the extras themselves.
The A5 range, meanwhile, gains added standard equipment in the form of parking sensors (fore and aft), LED headlamps and the Audi music interface.
The Q5 line-up grows with the addition of two special-edition models, the first being the Q5 Off-road Edition, which gains an “off-road styling kit” complete with front and rear bumper underbody in “Selenite Silver” and wheel arches and sills in “Stone Grey” metallic. This model also features 19-inch wheels and LED headlamps, but is available only on Q5 base models (priced at R745 640 for the 40 TDI model and R795 640 for the 45 TFSI).
There’s also a Q5 Black Edition (R787 974 for the 40 TDI and R837 974 for the 45 TFSI), which adds the firm’s high-gloss black styling package, 20-inch alloys and the S line body kit.
