Images and specs of the TT RS have been leaked and spied ever since the high performance coupe entered its testing stages last year. Now, Audi has taken the opportunity to officially reveal it in both its coupe and roadster guise at this year’s Beijing Auto Show.
At first glance the TT RS is more dramatic than the standard model thanks to an enlarged set of air intakes, narrow diffuser, rear spoiler and the standard issue RennSport tailpipes. Inside, drivers will be introduced to the minimal interior of the TT but with a dynamic taste added to the steering wheel and trim.
Powering the TT RS will be the turbocharged 2,5-litre five-cylinder engine which will produce an enhanced 300 kW and 480 N.m of torque to all four wheels through the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The result is a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3,7 seconds (3,9 seconds for the roadster) and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h but an unrestricted option of 280 km/h is available for true speed freaks.
The TT RS suspension has been revised to be a lot stiffer to compensate for the added power. It has also been fitted with direct steering for more of an agile personality that the TT is known for.
Expect the TT RS to arrive in the second quarter of 2017
