Drawing inspiration from its vastly different rally counterpart, the Q8 e-tron edition Dakar boasts a heightened chassis and optional decals akin to the RS Q e-tron designed for the Dakar Rally. Its resemblance to the race vehicle is evident through wider arches, increased ground clearance, and the provision for two sets of wheels and tyres.
This electrified SUV packs a net battery size of 106 kWh (gross: 114 kWh) and a quattro drivetrain powered by two motors, delivering an impressive 300 kW in boost mode and 664 N.m of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h clocks in at 5.8 seconds with standard tyres. However, with the General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, the sprint extends marginally to 5.9 seconds. The vehicle’s range, according to WLTP standards, spans up to 487 kilometres, with a top speed electronically limited to 200 km/h.
A significant enhancement from the base model is the SUV’s adaptability to varied terrains. Outfitted with General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres, it gains a 31 mm lift in ground clearance, perfect for navigating loose surfaces like gravel or snow. Additionally, its dynamic adjustment system gradually lowers the vehicle at higher speeds for optimal aerodynamics and range, maintaining stability at velocities of 85 km/h and above. Designed for mild off-road jaunts, this electric SUV boasts impressive front and rear angles of approach—20 and 26 degrees, respectively and a ramp angle of 19 degrees. Its revised air suspension strategy aligns with off-road demands, enabling a wading depth of 300 mm.
