The local BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé model line-up is currently available with the choice of two petrol engine options. The opening gambit to the range, the 218 employs a 1.5-litre turbo-triple. Producing 115 kW and 230 N.m of torque, the latter of which available from a mere 1 500 r/min, the three-cylinder unit sends drive to the front axle via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. BMW claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 8.6 seconds for the front-wheel-drive derivative and an average fuel consumption of 6.3 L/100 km. The top speed is rated at 230 km/h.

Spearheading the line-up, the M235’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot churns out a healthy 233 kW and 400 N.m, sent to all four corners (via a seven-speed Steptronic transmission) as soon as the rev needle edges the 2 000 km/h mark. According to BMW, these figures allow the M Performance 2 Series Gran Coupé to complete the obligatory 0-100 km/h dash in 4.9 seconds, before topping out at 250 km/h. The M235 sips, on average, 7.7 L/100 km.
As a reminder, the (two-door) 2 Series Coupé range is available with the option of two four-cylinder turbocharged engines and a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol. The former comprises the 220i and 220d, which produces 135 kW/300 N.m and 140 kW/400 N.m, respectively. The M Performance derivative’s 3.0-litre turbocharged six-pot produces 285 kW/500 N.m for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.3 seconds.
