BMW South Africa has just handed its 3 Series range two new exclusive trim lines that incorporate some styling changes and an array of added standard equipment.
The local arm of the Munich-based automaker hopes that the Edition Sport Line Shadow and Edition M Sport Shadow will lend the 3 Series yet more dynamic flair.
The R39 500 Edition Sport Line Shadow is available only in conjunction with the turbo-triple, entry-level 318i and includes black inserts for the head- and taillamps, as well as a black finish for the kidney grille surrounds and air ducts. The tailpipe also gains a chrome black finish, complemented by a set of 18-inch jet-black alloy wheels.
There have also been some changes made to the interior. The instrument panel gains a distinctive contrasting seam while the cluster adopts some “upgraded features”. There’s also a sports steering wheel and partial leather sports seats to offer a more dynamic feel as well as dark aluminium carbon trim with pearl gloss chrome accents.
The rest of the range (excluding the 330d and M3) can be fitted with the Edition M Sport Shadow kit, which features all of the above alterations, along with the option of a set of 19-inch double-spoke M light alloys finished in Orbit Grey.
The interior features a set of black leather sports seats with blue contrasting seams. These models further benefit from an M sports suspension, M aerodynamics package, 19-inch M light alloy wheels, M leather-covered steering wheel, roof lining in Anthracite, M-branded door sills and driving mode selection with the Sport+ mode. Pricing for this package is as follows: R69 500 on the 320i, 320d and 330i; R65 900 on the 330d; R64 300 on the 330e; and R54 300 on the 340i.
If these two trim lines seem familiar, that’s because similar examples debuted on the facelifted 1 Series.
In addition to these new derivatives, BMW says the entire 3 Series range will now benefit from LED headlamps and foglamps as standard, while the sunset orange colour pictured above will also be added to the 3 Series palette.
The equipment range for the Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport models will also now feature a dashboard with a contrasting seam, while the options of leather trim in the colour Cognac, further interior trim strips and additional 17-inch, 18-inch and 19-inch alloys have also been added.
Changes have also been made to the Professional navigation system, while all 3 Series variants can now be had with the optional multifunction instrument display.
