BMW’s next electrified range of vehicles looks set to don the i4 nameplate, taking the shape of a 3 Series-sized all-electric sedan the brand promises will focus on the qualities key to its inherently driver-focussed reputation.
The four-door Gran Coupé body shape is set to combine dynamics and elegance in a spacious, comfortable and versalite package. The new model will be shaped by fifth-generation BMW eDriving technology shared with the forthcoming 2020 BMW iX3.
The i4 will make use of latest-generation battery cell technology set to provide it with at least 390 kW and a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 4,0 seconds. A top speed of more than 200 km/h and a operating range of 600 km has been touted.
The flat battery pack weighs 550 kg and offers a storage capactiy of 80 kWh. Capable of a 150 kW charge, it is able to replenish 80 percent of its operating capacity in 35 minutes.
The new model will be produced at BMW’s Munich plant alongside 3 Series and 4 Series variants.
