The all-electric BMW iX will soon be heading to South Africa as an eco-friendly SUV that doesn’t skimp out on performance. Being made available to our market are two high-end trims that boast a conclusive list of comfort features.
Kicking off the range is the BMW iX xDrive40 with a price tag of R1 650 000. This car boasts a power output of 240 kW and 630 N.m of torque which gives it an electric range of 350 km and 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6,1 seconds.
Fitted as standard to this trim is a pair of full LED headlamps, the new curved infotainment screen (connected to a standard 12-speaker system with a 205-watt amplifier) and digital instrument cluster, a 4K rear facing camera, 2,5-zone climate control, LED ambient lighting, level two autonomous driving and other related safety features. Further convenience features include a Travel and Comfort system that fits coat hooks, tablet holders and a pair of USB-C ports to the front headrests for the convenience of the rear passengers. A 40:20:40 rear folding bench is also included in the package.
The next in the range which will act as the flagship for the time being is the BMW iX xDrive50 which will set you back by R2 175 000. This model produces 385 kW and 765 N.m of torque with a claimed range of 505 km thanks to its larger battery capacity. With this, it’ll sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4,6 seconds and hit a top speed of 200 km/h. Added to this trim as standard is air suspension.
