The BMW iX3, which was introduced into the Bavarian brands fully electric range just last year, has already been handed a conclusive set of visual and equippment updates. The reason for this early set of revisions is because it still remains part of the overall X3 range which was facelifted just two months ago, three years into its life-cycle.
As to be expected, the updated BMW iX3 has been detailed with a fresh set of design cues that aligns it with the rest of the range. This includes a rejigged front apron with a larger pair of kidney grilles and slimmer headlamps. The rear has been shaped to appear more muscular while three-dimensional LED taillamps aim to create futuristic characteristics. Model-specific accents in BMW i Blue remain at the front and rear.
Where performance is concerned, the BMW iX3 retains its rear-mounted electric motor, which sources energy from an 80 kWh battery, with a maximum power output of 210 kW and 400 N.m of torque. This results in a 0-100 km/h time of 6,8 seconds and a claimed range of up to 460 km on a full charge.
For those yearning a more exciting experience, the brand confirms that the M Sport package is now fitted to the BMW iX3 as standard. This adds some unique design elements to the exterior such as a lower air intake with a ten-stage active air flap control to cool the drive system components and brakes. As standard, the EV crossover boasts a set of 19-inch aerodynamic wheels with a drag coefficient value of 0,29 but this can be upgraded to a set of 20-inch M-specific wheels finished in Jet black with aluminium inlays at an additional cost.
Two equipment lines are available for the BMW iX3. The “Inspiring” pack adds metallic paintwork, adaptive suspension, automatic tailgate operation, a panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable seats, a sport leather steering wheel, a storage package and three-zone automatic climate control system with pre-heating and pre-conditioning function. The “Impressive” package adds 20-inch light-alloy wheels, acoustic glazing, Vernasca leather trim, BMW Head-Up Display, Harman Kardon Surround Sound System and BMW IconicSounds Electric.
The new BMW iX3 will be available in South Africa from the first quarter of 2022 with pricing to be confirmed closer to the time.
