The BMW M6 GT3 we saw in camouflage earlier this year has finally been revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show while sporting the traditional BMW livery. It will be made available to private teams hoping to compete in various championships for the 2016 season for the price of €379 000 (R5 800 000).
The new M6 GT3 succeeds the BMW Z4 GT3 with drivability and economy being the main focal points of improvement by utilising its M TwinPower Turbo technology and various other technologies. The racer also weighs under 1 300 kg and, with its centrally positioned driving seat, creates the perfect centre of gravity. BMW also say that the M6 GT3 will out-handle the Z4 GT3 thanks to its longer wheelbase.
Along with is transaxle drive system and sequential six-speed transmission the M6 GT3 will feature a 4,4-litre turbocharged V8 delivering 375 kW to the rear wheels. Although the M6 GT3 is set to race in next year’s calendar, the car is still receiving a final round of fine-tuning from the engineers at BMW.
