BMW’s flagship M3 and M4 performance cars will soon be available with a special Competition Package which will feature cosmetic and performance upgrades.
Cosmetic exterior upgrades will feature a unique set of 20-inch alloy wheels (somewhat reminiscent of the set found on older M models) and an M Sport exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes. Shadowline accents have also been added to the grille, mirrors, and window surrounds. The only changes made to the interior are the lightweight bucket seats with the M Power colours imprinted on the seatbelts.
Fans will be glad to hear that the Competition Package will feature some more power from the 3,0-litre twin-turbo straight-six powerplant. It now produces 336 kW which is 19 kW more than the standard version. A claimed 0-100 km/h time with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is now set at 4,0 seconds (0,1 seconds faster than the standard model). The M4 Convertible will achieve it in 4,3 seconds.
Other enhancements on the Competition Package include a revised adaptive M Suspension with new springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars, an active M differential, a retuned dynamic stability control system and reconfigured driving modes.
The Competition Package will be available to South African markets this March. Pricing, however is yet to be announced.
