Brabus has revealed fresh performance upgrades, as well as subtle exterior updates, for the new Mercedes-Benz GLE300d and GLE400d derivatives.
Two tuning packs are on offer: one for the GLE300d and one for the GLE400d. The first of which is Brabus’ PowerXtra D30 module, which when fitted to the GLE300d’s 2,0-litre four-pot raises the standard outputs of 180 kW and 500 N.m of torque to 225 kW and 570 N.m. The German company says this is enough for the SUV to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6,9 seconds (three-tenths of a second quicker than Mercedes-Benz’s claimed time). Top speed, however, remains 225 km/h.
The second performance upgrade, courtesy of the Bottrop-based tuner’s PowerXtra D40 module, upgrades the GLE400d’s standard 3,0-litre inline-six to now send 272 kW and 750 N.m (up from 243 kW and 700 N.m) to all four wheels via Mercedes-Benz’s 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive setup. Brabus claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 5,5 seconds, shaving two-tenths of a second off the standard car’s claimed figure, while top speed has increased by 5 km/h to 250 km/h.
The GLE seen here rides on 22-inch alloys which have been specifically designed for the GLE model range. Items measuring 23 inches in diameter can also be specified. A new suspension kit lowers the ride height by “approximately” 25 mm, while a roof-mounted spoiler is fitted to the rear.
