Brabus reveals (588 kW!) Mercedes-AMG G63 Black & Gold Edition…

Another week, another modified Mercedes-AMG G63 from Brabus, with the folks over at the German firm revealing the Brabus 800 Black & Gold edition, sporting various cosmetic updates, added carbon-fibre and more power.

Under the bonnet, the most notable addition is the fitment of two high-performance turbochargers to the standard G63’s V8 engine. Thanks to the latter modification and a few others the Bottrop-based tuner doesn’t mention, the twin-turbo 4,0-litre petrol mill now churns out a whopping 588 kW and 1 000 N.m of torque, the latter available from 3 600 r/min. According to Brabus, the uprated G63 will reach the three-figure mark from standstill in just 4,2 seconds, before topping out at an electronically governed 240 km/h.

Adding aural drama to the package is an in-house developed stainless steel exhaust system, replete with integrated flap control and a sound management system. The tailpipes are finished in black chrome.

True to its denomination, the Black & Gold Edition’s brake callipers, 23-inch wheels and myriad other items are painted in a gold hue. Finished in black, the G63 seen here sports Brabus’ widebody kit, giving the boxy SUV an even more imposing stance. Various items, such as the bonnet scoop and grille surround, have been furnished in carbon-fibre.

The black-and-gold theme extends to the leather-wrapped cabin, which now features a new centre console, “specifically” designed for the G. Interestingly, the rear bench has been ditched for two bucket seats with ventilation and heating functionality.
