Does Brabus need any introduction? This crazy German tuning house which focuses on creating exaggerated editions of Mercedes-Benz; this one is no exception. It’s called the GS 850 XL and it’s based on the current GLS.
To be exact, it makes use of the GLS 63 4MATIC and gives it some visual enhancements and a serious mechanical work-over. Brabus claims that it has created a supercar, but that might be taking things a little too far.
In terms of appearance, the 850 XL gains a naked carbon aerokit with a unique exhaust design and 23-inch monoblock forged wheels. The image is completed by lowering the ride height by 30 mm through a custom control module on the Airmatic suspension. The interior receives custom Brabus leather upholstery with unique detailing.
The twin-turbo V8 has been increased to a 6,0-litre capacity. Through this and various other mechanical enhancements, the 850 XL is able to deliver 625 kW and 1 450 N.m of torque. This makes it good for a 0-100 km/h time of 4,2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h.
Minor kits are also available for those who don’t want their 850 XL to be too extreme. The modified SUV also comes with a three-year / 100 000 km tuning warranty.
