Although the new Ford F-150 Raptor was first revealed in Detroit last year, there has been no word from the automaker on this potent pickup’s performance figures.
And that’s not changed. Well, not officially, anyway. However, specifications leaked in the United States this week suggest that the Raptor will make as much as 335 kW (at 5 000 r/min) and 690 N.m (at 3 500 r/min).
That means the second-generation, high-output 3,5-litre EcoBoost V6 (married to a ten-speed automatic transmission in this application) will churn out as much as 29 kW and around 100 N.m more than the 6,2-litre V8 mill that did duty in its predecessor. And, considering the new, aluminium-bodied bakkie has lost plenty of lard, we’re sure that’ll translate into some serious performance.
In addition, according to the leaked specification document, the Raptor’s towing capacity has also increased slightly to 3 628 kg.
Of course, as much as you might want one (and, judging by just how popular Raptor-inspired styling kits for the Ranger are in South Africa, you probably do), the Ford F-150 Raptor is sadly not destined for local shores.
