To celebrate the recent running of the Canadian Grand Prix, Alfa Romeo have now launched a limited edition Giulia Speciale into the country, with only 15 units available for order in a special colour and equipped with carbon fibre.
Keen eyed Alfisti will notice that the colour selection used on this Giulia Speciale is only normally reserved for the Quadrifoglio Verde high performance model. Verde Montreal as it is known internally is a tri-coat hue that will now accompany this limited edition derivative which was used as a celebration for the Canadian Grand Prix in the city that bears the same name as the shade of green.
The Giulia Speciale may have been a good omen for the Italian brand in the North American country after both works drivers for the Formula 1 team managed to score points with Valtteri Bottas achieving 7th and Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu one position behind.
Other than the sedan being finished in the exclusive shade of colour, the Giulia Speciale also includes black badges and carbon fibre on the scudetto (grille), side sills and mirror caps. Iconic 19-inch five hole horse shoe Alfa Romeo alloys will sit on each corner while yellow brake calipers are concealed behind.
The dependable 2,0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged motor remains unchanged under the bonnet, still capable of an impressive 209 kW and 415 N.m. An eight-speed ZF gearbox with a limited-slip differential at the rear propel the all-wheel drive sedan to 100 km/h from standstill in only 5,1 seconds. The limited edition Giulia Speciale will also boast adaptive dampers which improve cornering ability and comfort.
The inside includes carbon fibre trim used to adorn the dashboard, centre console and details of the door cards. Red stitching is dappled throughout while black leather covers the seats. Pricing for each of the 15 models will come in at $71,995 CAD which equates to just over R850 000.
