Remember the extreme Volkswagen Amarok the folks at Carlex Design revealed earlier in 2018? Well, the Poland-based firm is back. This time, the tuner has shifted its attention to a boxier stablemate of the German bakkie, the Caravelle.
This model is, however, not developed by Carlex Design alone. To prove that the “automotive [industry] and art can be a great combination”, the company looked to America for inspiration, and collaborated with Jeral Tidwell, an artist best known for his poster-art for rock bands such as the Foo Fighters.
The result? A limited-edition grey-and-yellow 2,0-litre turbodiesel T6 Jeral Tidwell Limited Edition van. Now bearing the artist’s signature, this model is plastered with the artwork he is most passionate about … “skull-art”.
On either side of the vehicle, skull-inspired decals can be found stretching from the rear arches to the roofline. This theme is carried over to the black-and-yellow leather-trimmed cabin, too. In addition, skull motifs are stitched into the backrests of the seats. The front pews features Alcantara, too. For “maximum comfort”, a reshaped steering wheel sits in the front.
A custom body kit (including revised front and rear bumpers, side sills and extended wheel arches) contributes to this van’s imposing look. A set of 20-inch Cades Kratos alloys can be found at each corner, with the Caravelle also riding 20 mm closer to the ground than before. A roof-mounted spoiler can be seen at the rear.
To give this skull-clad van a fitting soundtrack, it has been equipped with a double sports exhaust system. And to finish things off, quad tailpipes sit below the rear bumper. Interestingly, a synthesised V8 burble from an American pick-up can also be specified (carbon side-mirror covers are another option).
Unfortunately, Tidwell won’t be able to own this creation, seeing that the vehicle isn’t sold in the United States.
