The Changan Kaicheng F70 has been revealed with a number of impressive standard features. Bearing the same platform as the SA-bound Peugeot Landtrek via an ongoing partnership, the new product sources a significant amount of kit from the French example.
As reported by Pikache, the Changan Kaicheng F70 is available with three engine options; two turbodiesel mills and one petrol. The entry-level of the lot is a 2,0-litre four-cylinder oil-burner which delivers 110 kW and 360 N.m while a larger 2,5-litre four-cylinder mill provides 120 kW and 400 N.m. A turbopetrol 2,4-litre four-cylinder mill with 155 kW and 320 N.m is available to those who require the bakkie for lifestyle purposes.
For improved off-road dynamics, the Changan Kaicheng F70 benefits from full-stroke damping valves and high-damping bushings.
The diesel models are available with a six-speed manual gearbox only but 4×2 and 4×4 drive options are available. The petrol offering is available with a six-speed manual and automatic transmission with both drive systems.
While most of the design cues fall in line with the Peugeot Landtrek, the Changan Kaicheng F70 boasts a number of distinctive lines such as the bold front grille and modern headlamp design.
The cabin of the new Chinese bakkie may look familiar because it makes use of Peugeot trimmings. This includes the 10,25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment screen, system control buttons and digital display. The two-spoke steering wheel, air vents and gear selector, among other trims, have been adopted as well.
Features on flagship models are generous as well with a CN95 air filter, six-airbags and a plethora of safety features all being thrown in as standard. Seat heating, electric folding mirrors, 360 degree park assist, keyless entry, push start and an electronic handbrake further enhances the comfort in the Changan Kaicheng F70.
While Changan has an operating dealer network within South Africa, its local line-up is strictly commercial so a local introduction for the Kaicheng F70 remains uncertain.
