Available in both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive configurations, the spacious and well-kitted-out Tiggo 7 Pro range has sold over 450 000 units globally in the past year, with just less than a quarter of those sales accredited to the new Tiggo 7 Pro Max. Here is how much it will cost in local showrooms:
- Tiggo 7 Pro Max Distinction 2WD – R529 900
- Tiggo 7 Pro Max Executive 2WD – R559 900
- Tiggo 7 Pro Max Executive AWD – R609 900
Familiar than before, the updated model boasts engine upgrades resulting in more power as well as a host of new tech and features. The all-wheel-drive system on specific models offers 6 intelligent driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, Muddy and Off-Road. Under the bonnet of the 290T badged model of the Chinese SUV is the 1.6 TGDI turbo-petrol ATECO which has a maximum power and torque outputs of 145 kW and 290 N.m. Handling shifting duties is a DCT transmission across the range that Chery claimed ‘delivers exceptional fuel efficiency’.

Looking at the exterior, the model has been significantly overhauled with updated front and rear fascias which are equipped with LED technology featuring a light-up sequence both fore and aft. Inside, the model has been fitted with a 24,6-inch ‘curved hyperboloid immersive screen’ that is capable of wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The centre control console has been redesigned with a short-travel gear lever and driving mode knob. Perforated leather sport front seats are available while audio is played through an 8-speaker Sony sound system.
In the safety department, Chery includes the standard ABS and electronic stability control as well as level 2.5 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). These features include: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Driver Monitoring System (DMS), Multi-Collision Brake (MCB) and Lane Change Assist (LCA).
The new Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max is now available from dealers around the country and includes a 5-year / 60,000 km service plan, along with Chery’s renowned 1-million-kilometre / 10-year engine warrant.
